FAQ

Optimize PDF

What is an optimized PDF?
An optimized PDF has been restructured so a viewer can display page one before the whole file has downloaded. This is also called linearization, or a fast web view PDF. Unused objects are dropped and fonts are subset, so the file is leaner as well.
What is the difference between optimizing and compressing a PDF?
Compressing reduces size mainly by re-encoding images at lower quality. Optimizing reorganises the file's internal structure and strips waste, so quality is untouched. Optimize first; compress only if the file is still too large.
Does optimizing a PDF change how the document looks?
No. Linearization, object cleanup, and font subsetting do not alter page content. Text, images, and layout are identical — the file simply loads faster and carries less overhead.

Most free tools make money by processing and analyzing the contents of your files. We don't. DocsMe was built with local document processing as a first-class feature, not an afterthought.
